Project Summary:

Upgrading of Financial & Business Services building and training facilities.

Outputs:

  • Upgraded training facilities to C rating (including cladding, replacement of windows, roof repairs)
  • AutoCAD classrooms and 3D printing facilities

In October 2016, Bournemouth and Poole College opened the upgraded Financial and Business Services building at Lansdowne Bournemouth to provide industry standard training facilities in one of Dorset’s key sectors.

The refurbished accommodation responds to the increased demand for financial and business service facilities, addressing higher level skills shortages, aimed at improving the performance of existing businesses and to encourage the creation and growth of new ones within the conurbation.

Within the refurbished building, Bournemouth and Poole College aims to equip future generations of entrepreneurs with the skills and mindset to run their own businesses, thereby supporting the future of the local economy in Dorset.

The project provides a watertight envelope by overcladding the building, adding double glazing and a new roof membrane. The project has improved the learning experience for students while also reducing the building’s carbon footprint and extending the life of the building by 50 years. Cost and efficiency savings expected to be around £50,000 per year.

Internal refurbishment has additionally improved access for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
