Project Summary:

Kingston Maurward College, Dorchester, is a specialist college which delivers training in agriculture, environment, animal welfare, conservation and construction. The college is Dorset’s only land-based provider for students from the ages of 16 for these subject areas.

Kingston Maurward Animal Park & Gardens are situated on college land to generate commercial revenue for the college. The attraction offers visitors the chance to meet alpacas and birds of prey while enjoying the 750 acres of on-site gardens.

£250,000 of the government’s Growing Places Fund loan was provided for construction of the permanent indoor activity space 'The Barn'.

The permanent wooden barn structure provides an undercover play and learning space, and is expected to increase revenue from the Animal Park. The park is a year-round attraction for Dorchester and central Dorset where no equivalent provision exists.
