Project Status - Completed
- Start Date: March 2020
- End Date: January 2021
- Local Growth Fund allocation: £105,928
- Awarded to: Bournemouth & Poole College
Summary:
This Local Growth Fund project introduces Digital and Enterprise Innovation hubs to Bournemouth and Poole College.
These hubs will provide a central focus at each college site to promote the development of employability and enterprise skills, ensuring students are work-ready and enter industries as skilled employees.
Therefore, Dorset can expect more productive employees from the onset of employment, reducing the training and mentoring time required.
Physical works include the refurbishment of two spaces on two college sites. Relevant IT equipment will also be purchased for hub use.
The two new hubs will increase the employability skills for around 4000 students and apprentices per year.
A contract extension was awarded to this project in December 2020 and an additional £30,000 allocated. This additional funding is for the procurement and installation of a 3D printer which is expected to help the college attract an additional 200 new HNC Mechanical Design students by 2025.
