Project Summary:

Dorset LEP allocated £497,397 of the Getting Building Fund to University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust for the acquisition of IT infrastructure and for the creation of Dorset Clinical Research Centre dedicated space at Royal Bournemouth Hospital. 

This new facility will allow Dorset companies to deliver research-led health and medical innovations, clinical products and clinical practice enhancements. Dorset Clinical Research Centre is located within the current Royal Bournemouth Hospital building, ensuring appropriate access to patient safety provisions, and providing a safe and comfortable environment for patients to participate in ground-breaking research.

Expected Outcomes (by March 2025):

  • 7.5 new Dorset Clinical Trials Unit posts
  • 5 new jobs through Research and Knowledge Exchange applications 
  • 20.445 indirect jobs created 
  • 11 scientific and research jobs safeguarded 
  • 14 businesses/institutions assisted 
  • £3,396,008 GVA
