Bournemouth Airport's Thermal Cameras

Bournemouth Airports Thermal Cameras

Bournemouth Airport is leading the way in a new innovation which may help to slow the spread of coronavirus.

The airport has become the first UK airport to test thermal cameras which take temperature readings of passengers as they pass through security.

This new technology to the UK is being tested in the hope it may be able to identify members of the public who have contracted COVID-19, therefore slowing the spread of the virus.

Steve Gill, Managing Director at Bournemouth Airport told BBC News: "I think it's a very useful tool to have in our armoury, early days and that's why we're testing it to make sure we understand what we can plan for."

Other UK airports are now also interested in trialling the technology, as are hospitals and restaurant chains.
