Local Industrial Strategy – Call For Evidence

Local Industrial Strategy – Call For Evidence

Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), the business - led private and public sector partnership that aims to promote local economic growth and prosperity across the region – is calling for new evidence to inform the development of a Local Industrial Strategy for Dorset. A strategy to drive Dorset’s productivity and prosperity.

The Call for Evidence is open to submissions from all local economic development stakeholders in the public, private and voluntary sectors. Evidence can include data sets, research papers, surveys or strategies that show the importance, innovation and future growth of particular sectors that are likely to bring new technological, skills breakthroughs or become a focus of future growth for the county.

Dorset LEP is also looking for relevant information on any of the Government’s Grand Challenges – Artificial Intelligence and data, ageing, future mobility and clean growth that highlight Dorset’s competitive advantage or could get a competitive advantage by 2030.

Evidence, along with attachments, should be submitted via email to mhanulova@bournemouth.ac.uk. Further information is available to download here

Dorset’s Local Industrial Strategy will help to inform local choices, prioritise local action and, where appropriate, help to inform decisions at a national level. It will guide local investment and devolved funding which is granted to Local Enterprise Partnerships by central government and other national schemes.

It is a direct response to the Government’s UK Industrial Strategy which aims to boost productivity by backing businesses to create jobs and increase the earning power of people throughout the UK with investment in skills, industries and infrastructure.

Jim Stewart, Chair of Dorset LEP comments: “Dorset’s economy is resilient, growing, and has the potential to deliver greater prosperity for our county and beyond for generations to come.

“Our Local Industrial Strategy will set forth how Dorset is able to utilise its strengths to maximise its contribution to UK productivity, identifying long-term priorities to improve skills, increase innovation and enhance infrastructure and business growth.

“I encourage companies with an interest in the local economy to respond to this call and help Dorset LEP gain a more in-depth understanding on our competitive advantage or what this could be by 2030.”

Dorset LEP will also be hosting a number of workshops to explain findings to date and to seek further input. Details of these will be announced in due course.

Please note that we have a huge amount of evidence and we are seeking new evidence.  Information we can’t access through other sources or related to a particular business or sectors.  Please review the national industrial strategy for more scope.
