Join us for the University of Southampton SPRINT launch: Funding SMEs in the Space Sector
The Universities of Southampton, Leicester, Surrey, Edinburgh and the Open University have together formed the Space Research and Innovation Network for Technology (SPRINT). The network has received a £4.8M grant which will be used to support SME businesses in the space sector engaging with Higher Education institutions and will be providing SMEs with unprecedented access to university expertise and facilities.
The Southampton SPRINT launch will showcase the breadth of expertise at the University of Southampton and provide an invaluable networking platform for SMEs and Southampton researchers. Importantly we will be providing an overview on how to access funds to support SMEs in the space sector.
You will be able to meet with Southampton’s Space Environment Physics Group who have expertise in a wide range of space-based and ground-based observations, Southampton’s Astronautics Group who have expertise in areas such as space debris, near-earth objects, and environmental sensors spacecraft propulsion, spacecraft structures and spacecraft instrumentation. In addition, Southampton scientists in Health Sciences are currently engaged in carrying out the first study into the effects of space flight on human muscle tone. There will be representation from University experts with international reputation in satellite time series analysis using Earth Observation data to derive products and services for environmental monitoring and food security as well as our data scientists with considerable expertise in handling Big Data and our world leading Optoelectronics Research Centre and colleagues from the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research.
In addition we will be providing access to key University Corporate partners within the Space sector and highlighting the mechanisms by which we support collaborative projects.
The Southampton SPRINT launch will also provide an opportunity to understand challenges from within the industry and look at how best the SPRINT network and its funds can be used to collaboratively develop innovative solutions.
We would be delighted to have you join us for this event and to share space sector expertise, challenges, successes and interests.
We are expecting a large number of attendees and would recommend you register early. Lunch and refreshments will be served.
