Dorset’s First Big Bang Event

Dorset’s First Big Bang Event

Big Bang @ Dorset – Dorset’s First Big Bang Event

Wednesday 13th March 2019, at The Tank Museum, Bovington

In 2019 Dorset will be holding its first ever Big Bang Near Me Fair. This is one of only 2 such events in the south west region, which support the regional final in Exeter. Please help make this event a great success.

What is Big Bang?

Big Bang is a programme of UK-wide events that get students excited about science, technology, engineering and maths. Fun-filled theatre shows, hands-on exhibits, interactive workshops and a wide range of careers information from local and national employers – these are the kind of things you could expect to find at one of The Big Bang Near Me Fairs.

The Big Bang Near Me programme plays a vital role in inspiring the UK’s future scientists and engineers at a regional, local and school level. We encourage more people to take these subjects, as well as celebrating young people’s achievements in science and engineering through displaying their STEM projects and letting them talk with engineers and scientists, face to face.

At Dorset first event we are expecting over 2000 students to attend to be inspired about these fantastic and interesting careers which are available in Dorset. The UK needs many more scientists and engineers and equipping young people with skills in science, technology, engineering and maths is key to their future employability. Students attending a Near Me fair really enjoy themselves too – with nine out of ten rating the event they attended as “good” or “very good”.

To make the Dorset Big Bang Near Me Fair as interesting as possible we are seeking to recruit approximately 40 businesses to come along to the Fair with an interactive exhibit to inspire the students. Are you able to help and have a fun and inspiring day at the same time?

The fairs are part of a UK-wide programme led by EngineeringUK to bring science and engineering to life for young people. More than 130,000 students and over 900 employers visited regional and local Fairs in their local area in the 2015/16 academic year.

This event has the support of Dorset County Council, Dorset Council’s Partnership, CSW, Southern Universities Network, Dorset Engineering and Manufacturing Cluster and the The Tank Museum.
