Currently, across the UK, only 1 in 10 businesses export goods and services. The Department for Business and Trade's Export Strategy sets an ambitious target to nearly double UK exports from £600 billion to £1 trillion by 2030. The Strategy aims to:
- Encourage and inspire businesses that can export but have not started or are just beginning.
- Inform businesses by providing information, advice and practical assistance on exporting from the public or private sector, or their peers.
- Connect UK businesses to overseas buyers, international markets, and each other.
- Put finance at the heart of our offer.
As part of this strategy, the government is investing more into a range of support services designed to help and enable SMEs to expand into overseas markets.
