As the date for Britain to exit the EU approaches, we’d like to remind you of the support available to Dorset businesses to help you understand the implications and the actions you need to take to be as prepared as possible.

Our Brexit webpages have been updated with the latest government advice, technical documents and tools businesses need to consider and respond to changes and our Dorset Gateway team continue to work closely with colleagues from the local councils, Dorset Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) and other business support organisations to ensure local support is coordinated.

The latest in the round of support is being led by DCCI which the production of a Brexit Information and Guidance magazine offering advice in the case of a no deal or deal – this is being distributed across the region and available on on their website alongside other Brexit Support information.

In addition, on Tuesday 29 October, DCCI are hosting the Brexit Conference - Deal or No Deal, which takes place at the Hallmark Hotel, Bournemouth. Businesses from across the region are invited to attend and gain an overview of anticipated changes from an impressive range of speakers and discuss your questions and concerns as we look to the future with expert panel to. This event is free and open to both members and non-members of DCCI, with spaces available for two delegates per business, on a first come first serve basis. Book your space for the Brexit Conference - Deal or No Deal on the DCCI website.

Legal advice for businesses with questions regarding the implications of a no deal is available until 31 October by calling Lucy Taylor at the DCCI on 01202 786183, and from 14 November a Brexit Adviser, funded by Dorset LEP, will be coordinating a Brexit Helpline and a signposting advice and support service to help improve the resilience of Dorset businesses over the next 12 months.

All of the support offered by Dorset Gateway and partners such as the DCCI is free and available to all businesses based in Dorset - whether you’re a start-up, scale up, SME or multi-national. Get in touch by contacting Dorset Chamber’s Business Gateway on 01202 71800 or gateway@dcci.co.uk.

Further news and developments will be announced over the coming days and weeks, including initial thoughts for Dorset’s Local Industrial Strategy, a long-term economic plan for the county, which Dorset LEP and partners are developing.
