Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week

Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week

The 15th annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships takes place 7-13 February.

The week brings together businesses and apprentices across the county to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

This year's theme is ‘build the future’; reflecting on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and businesses to develop a talented workforce that is equipped with future-ready skills.

Apprenticeships develop a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce. Businesses that offer apprenticeships view them as beneficial to their long-term development.

Rebecca Davies, Head of Enterprise, Skills and Industry at Dorset LEP comments: “Our recently updated Local Skills Report for Dorset highlighted how apprenticeships are one of the most effective tools in improving social mobility. In Dorset 91% of completed apprenticeships ended in a sustained employment destination which is higher than the rate seen nationally. As a LEP we have been fully behind promoting apprenticeships as a successful solution to some of the recruitment issues faced by employers as well as a great career option.”

Dorset Careers Hub will be promoting a number of initiatives and events on its social media with apprenticeship guidance and support, follow them on Twitter @DorsetCEC and on Linked In
